INR Self Monitoring
INR results on your terms. For people who want to spend less time in waiting rooms.
If you are taking a vitamin K antagonist like warfarin, you know that your blood needs to be tested regularly to determine clotting time. But did you know you can do it yourself at home, on the go, or wherever you happen to be? Self-monitoring is not only convenient but it also has real health benefits and is recommended by the NHS regulator NICE1 for people on long-term anticoagulation therapy.
Self-monitoring with CoaguChek means fewer trips to the clinic, leaving you free to get on with what really matters to you – work, travel, spending time with friends and family, or simply relaxing at home.

What is anticoagulation therapy?
Coagulation is one of the body’s safety mechanisms as it controls the flow of blood following damage to blood vessels. Anticoagulation drugs such as warfarin help to slow down the clotting process and prevent the formation of potentially dangerous blood clots.
Warfarin and other anticoagulation treatments may be prescribed for a variety of reasons, such as helping to prevent blood clots after replacement heart valve surgery, Deep Vein Thrombosis and helping to prevent future heart attacks or strokes in a condition such as Atrial Fibrillation.
Why monitoring is important?
Because anticoagulation drugs affect the blood’s ability to clot, it is important that the right dose is maintained in order to reduce the risk of severe bleeding or other complications. CoaguChek helps you to monitor these doses without the need for frequent visits to your clinic.
Anticoagulation clinics
Currently, you are probably attending an anticoagulation clinic or your GP’s surgery to have your INR measured and warfarin dose adjusted to your needs. CoaguChek allows you to do this in your own time, saving you the inconvenience of clinic visits.
